Launie,I think they were from Quebec?Their English was heavily accented, and we were all getting a chuckle from each ohers pronounciation. One of the Canadian girls had a orange early model, and we took the Sat. ride together. That girl could drive! We left the rest of our group in the dust and flew through the hill climb section.Great fun!!

The one that will cause huge arguments is appropriate way to pronounce Lancia. Some like to say Loncha but I prefer it to draw it out with the way it's spelled.

When I am in Italy, I hear Lann-cha (both a's are pronounced like ahh, "lann-chia" (like in chia pet) is the other way I hear it.
But thats like Porsch and Porsche.
Every region has its own dialect. Ask someone in Boston, Louisiana, Texas or Minnesota and you get four different answers. The only ones who pronounce all words correctly are the states in the north central america. (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan.
Ask someone in California how to say Lancia and they pronounce it jalapeno.

That explains it. Even the French can't understand Quebecois. I have good friends out west who are from Quebec, and they certainly have their own way of pronouncing English (or in this case, Italian) words. I must say I like the "aught" pronunciation, but I'm afraid it might sound high falutin where we are, although I bet the English say it that way, and I was brought up to say "tomaughto"!
