Suspension noise...goes clunk clunk??

Post by TVST*R »

Have always had this low grade clunking sound from the pass rear side. Notice it particularly over those low wide speed humps...wierd....sometimes it sounds like driveshaft lash...not a circular sound.
Must have my Mech. check it out.

could be a loose shock absorber, or worn bushing in the rear bar

Don't trust just any one to work on your car. If you need the name of a good mechanic, I know one in Upland.
(We met each other there a while back)

I'll take "worn bushing in the rear bar" for $100..hehe.
I like Upland..folk there are real regular like. No Hollywood wannabees...

Mark, you need a neon light.

This will draw in the LA crowd in droves.

Think about what bright lights did for Las Vegas!

Good idea Mark. (Just as long as you're not the dancer!)

I had a similar noise and went crazy trying to find it. It runed out to be caused by the exhaust pipe (just prior to the muffler) hitting the rear sway bar. try having two people sit in the car and see if the exhaust hits the bar. i was able to rectify the problem by placing a piece of high temp heater hose over the bar.

Intersting idea...I am baffled...but not exhausted...hehe
I also find if I make a hard sweeping fast left turn (throws the weight to the r.) I also hear a similar sound but more whirrring (not tire rub though).
Mark thinks it might be a bad shock...so I guess I could replace that shock only.
