Need Pics of Dressed Engines
Re: Need Pics of Dressed Engines
I would recommend ceramic coating some parts as the paint will get heated, come off or can still corrode. POR 15 sealer is also great. Here are the different kinds available:

John, what did you do to the AFM plenum to get it to look like that? I worked on mine and it looks similar to Craig's.

Ron,
I masked it off and sprayed it with a galvanizing coating. I am pretty sure I bought it from Eastman Garage.

Re: Need Pics of Dressed Engines
I had a go at colouring a couple of spare sets of cam covers (done by the same ceramic coating process as the exhaust headers). Still not sure if I like them as much as polished ones, but they are easy to maintain and certainly look differentseubanks wrote:Does anyone paint the cam covers on these engines - or does that end up looking goofy?

In my opinion the best thing you can do to improve the look of the engine bay is to ceramic coat the exhaust manifold, nothing spoils a neat engine bay more than a rusty manifold.
The block of wood behind the exhaust cam housing in the picture above is not a permanent fixture It was there to support the engine during a clutch replacement job

Re: Need Pics of Dressed Engines
Here's my 1438, I wish it was in the car:
and the 2.0 in the '82:
If you are too poor, (or cheap like me) to get your exh manifold ceramic coated, I highly recommend Eastwoods stainless steel exhaust coating. I've had it on the '82 for over a year and it still looks as good as the day it was applied. It's like night and day compared to the crap you buy at the parts store.

Re: Need Pics of Dressed Engines
Thanks, I did not know that, never seen a 1400 motor. I know that my Honda XR motor has a centrifical oil cleaner, to clean out the microscopic clutch material.
