I'll be there.

and I will drop off my engine hoist early. Unless Mark is pulling your old engine for you, you are gonna need this. Then WE are gonna need it when the new one goes in.

So Steve, is it safe to just drop it off? Maybe roll it into your back yard? Or do I need to do it when you are home? and you can lock it away safely in your garage?

I only ask, because in my neighborhood... my neighbors would steal the "crack" out of your ass if your pants were too tight.. lol

I spoke with Ace last night and he'll have his engine stand for me to pick up while I'm in Ventura working this week. I don't know how long I'm here, we're not doing windows, we're on a remodel, but I'll have a better idea when I can get it to you by the time you have the engine picked up. Let me know if you need my truck for getting the car and engine from Mark's place. Just be aware that during the week I'm N/A. Then I'll RSVP ASAP. OK?

Ryan - What are the chances you could meet me at Mark's place tomorrow or Thursday with your tow bar and your hoist? We could tow my car back to my house and then leave the hoist with me so I can get started pulling the old engine.

Ron - Once you pick up the engine stand, let's pick a time to meet somewhere so I can get it from you. I'll flex around your schedule. Then I can take the stand with me to Mark's when I pick up the new engine and just put it right on. I'll have to finagle a truck to make the pickup at Mark's, but I hate to ask you to drive all the way to Upland to pickup my engine and then drive all the way back out here to Glendora again on the 28th.

Thursday could work.

What time would you like to meet up?

-Ryan

edit: we will need to temporarily remove your front bumper. the tow bar attaches to the bumper mount bars.

Anytime Thursday works for me. You have farther to drive, so you name the time and I'll flex around your schedule. We'll meet at Mark's, and I'll try to get there a little early and take that bumper off before you get there.

Thanks!

You're probably better off not to put the engine on the engine stand when transporting in the back of a pickup truck. An engine on an engine stand is top heavy and cumbersome to handle without tipping. You can make a rectangular wooden box to surround the oil pan with 1 x 6 planks. Make it to fit the oil pan 'bowl', so that the engine rests on the flange of the oil pan, on the top of the 1 x 6 box. Once you get to your place, you can use the hoist to move the engine from the pickup truck to the engine stand. This is a trick I learned from Reyy. Those construction guys know all the tricks!

Tappy - I must admit that your experience gives me both inspiration and nightmares. Your commitment to getting your car running, through all the setbacks, is amazing. On the other hand, if I get to my third engine, I'll push the car into the ocean!

For now, I just consider myself blessed to be surrounded by SCUFF - the Southern California Ultimate Fiat Family!

Chin up Craig. You can always count on the Georgia Mountain Fiat Owners! Small group, but very committed to their founder.

Thanks Alvon. I'll get some board prepped for transport.

It looks like I'm stuck in Ventura until Saturday. What happens is I come over to Ventura from my place in Lancaster and stay at my brother's house until the work for that week is done. It's very unusual to have to stay through Saturday, but that's how the cookie crumbled this week. So It looks like Sunday I'll be driving to Glendora, is that OK Steve?

That'll be great. In fact, I'd be more than willing to meet you somewhere to make your drive a little shorter. If you're going back up to Lancaster afterward, maybe I could meet you around the 101/405, then you're right there at the 405 to head north. I can get the engine here from Mark's, and then put it on the stand when I get back here with it on Sunday.

Just let me know what's easiest for you.

Thanks Rey, but as I'm coming up to help tow Steve's jewel home anyway... I'll just bring up the hoist.

so, timing. I think 11:00 am is the right time. Enough time to wake up, have coffee read the paper.. yadda yadda yadda.. and get up there without ever being in a hurry. Also late enough to guarantee that you can have that front bumper off, without cutting into your coffee, paper, and yadda yadda yadda time either! lol

And Steve, remember...
