I am quite busy working under the dash trying to get some of my winter work donw on the car and I have a few more questions ( yes , it is okay to groan ).
I was working on the dash ( well it is been disassembled quite a bit ) and noticed on back of the fiber optic light socket that the socket only had 1 set of wires attached to it. How is it grounded ? Should it have a ground wire ? If so, one of the spade terminals is broke.
One other question concerning the heater core. With the fan removed I noticed what looks to be a copper wire with rubber spacers spaced out on the under side of the heater core. What is it's purpose and should it be hooked to anything ?
Thank you for enlightening one so FIAT ignorant.

Re: 2 Questions
The fiber optic light socket is grounded by being screwed into the metal under the dash. In other words it is self grounding by how the socket is mounted.

Re: 2 Questions
The stock heater valve had some sort of goofy auto temp control. I think the probe you see is supposed to keep the heater temp stable, but I'm not quite sure how or how well it works, all my cars have aftermarket valves.

I don't think the auto temp control works. My shoes still melt.
