but

don't accidently hit a curb at +5 m.p.h. at a "bad" angle, or enter a Michigan pot-hole zone.

Michigan pot-hole zone = any paved road in the state of Michigan beginning the day the snow has melted. the pot-hole zones expire the first day snow completely packs the holes.

I have had my tires on my Ford balanced by the dealer using the forced balancing method, with the tire under the same load the truck carries. After they replaced a large number of tires and components they gave up. I got it balanced at a tire center using the typical spin method and it resolved the issue. I offered to sell Ford the fix for a major problem associated with the new frame design however they refuse to discuss the issue because they "do not have a problem".
My point in all this is our machines all react differently and finding the resolve is sometimes as easy as a garage balance or someone with an analytical mind and unique equipment to make our ride enjoyable. The inverse actions taken for one vehicle is the fix for anothers car. I do not know what works on your cars but I am glad to see that his issues have been resolved and that makes the money well spent. Mine cost a one time $25.00 and I feel very lucky, now if the Ford lasts another 200K miles I will be very happy.

I think it's admirable that Ryan spent the money to make the ride as good as possible. This thread is like bashing an owner that spends $5k on a paint job when Earl Scheib would do it for $99

I haven't heard of this kind of procedure, but it sounds totally logical to true the tires. It sounds like he is happy that's all that matters! My wheels have lived a rough life and show it, but I don't "feel" any vibration although I am sure it's there. So what's the general consensus I am wondering on the preference between the old bubble balance method and the spin up method? I know for sure that the method from this post isn't available to me, like I could afford it anyway, and I'm not sure I could find anyone to bubble balance either...
1978 Spyder 1800 make that 2L! Finally making real progress!

i dunn see no bashing going on. just discussions. there are pros and cons to every wheel balancing method discussed here.

I think Earl would charge more than $99 these days, unless he already received his Obama stimulus package.

It sounded like a discussion to me. And I hope Ryan is happy with the results. Opinions may vary.

bubble balance only balances a tire/wheel from top to bottom. Spin balancing also balances side to side as well as top to bottom

if you find a painter with a wide brush you might be able to get a cheaper price than 99

Way to go,Ryan
When I lived in Fla. there was a wheel alignment shop, that was totally old school. You pulled over a pit for alignment, and they balanced the tires on the car up to 100mph.Wheel truing was an extra charge. They were much higher than everyone else in price, but there was always several days wait for any apointment. The car was always perfect when they were through with it. I wish there was a place like that around me now.You cant put a price on true quality work!

Hello Ryan

I hope you read this because I want to say to you ,,it's great that you went the extra mile and got your car running down the road as smooth as you possibly could.. Money doesn't matter when it gets things done like you like it and thats all that matters in the end..
I didn't say that in my first reply to you and maybe i should of,,,but like Mike Mouse said this is a discussion forum and we tend to bring out the differences in our own opinions and sometimes it can sound more like more of something against something than for it ..
Another thing that all should know ...and that is ,,,that if we were talking to each other in person ,,we would see each others expressions along with more explanations of what we are saying,,, then ,,,the person we are talking to has a much better understanding that we mean no harm ..
Speaking for my self here Ryan ,,I can tell you that I have a problem some times getting my point across when using this keyboard than if I were to be able to just say it ..
Lastly ,I want to say to you ::: for all I know you may not of even not of taking offence to my reply or any others and if you didn't , That would be just great ... Now ! ,,I have to hope that I expressed my self well enough that I didn't dig my self in deeper .. LD
