Spider at Barret-Jackson
Re: Spider at Barret-Jackson
Car looks nice but I'm calling B.S on the original top. Widow looks way to nice to be original. I looks to be about a nice $3500 car that was taken apart and given a nice paint job. Sorry but unlike some people I'm not to excited to see prices going up. These are the only really affordable sporty car anymore and I'm not looking forward to them becoming like the mg's or alfa's. It's bad enough that any muscle car or hot rod is priced completely out of my range as well as just about any foreign sports car that I'd want.
Re: Spider at Barret-Jackson
I'll agree with the 3500 estimate. As for prices going up, I want them to go way up on nice cars and stay ridiculously low on cheap cars, since those are the ones I buy
Re: Spider at Barret-Jackson
Collectors and antiques bring what someone is willing to pay for them. It has become big business instead of passion for the car. My opinion only.

I don't want the prices to go up either but if it helps get more restoration parts available like it did with the MG, I might reconsider.

Is there are part that you cant find? I have yet to find something that is not easily available if one wanted to go resto. As much as I like the car my car it shouldn't pull 9,000 even if it was in brand new condition. Just my two cents.
Re: Spider at Barret-Jackson
Well Denise I find that with the internet and the vendors that it is easier to get parts for the spider than it was back in the late 70's early 80's. This is when fiat was still here. I know there have been some parts that are N/A but for the basic mechanical its still good.

Basic mechanical parts are easy to find, but it would be nice to find a restored dash at a better price or the little rubber thingies that go on the weatherstrip on top the door opening (where the B pillar would be). I'd also like to find some original grey cornrow carpet and seatbelts or even taillamps. Those little MGs are so popular you could build one from a catalog.

Re: Spider at Barret-Jackson
I paid $120 for the last remaining right taillamp 14 years ago so it didn't hurt too bad to have the left one rechromed for $150 last year. Did you see on the X forum where a rear ball joint is over $400? Hope none of mine fail!

yes, I updated the thread last night. Thanks for the heads up
Re: Spider at Barret-Jackson
Not to offend anyone who may own that Fiat, but that car just isn't a looker to me. Especially for almost 10K. I'm really surprised it grabbed that in such a muscle market like Barret-Jackson.
