They have no excuse ,Spiddy! It was on at a normal time of day here. I took a drive through the mountains ,and still got home for the start.I am happy for you that your countryman is the new champ!I didnt realize it had been that long since there was a British WDC! I feel bad for Massa ,but his team let him down. I know the champagne was flowing at the 'Spiddy Estate' in Spain!

Very exciting finish to the season and good to see Lewis finally win it after last year's heart breaker. But like Craig, I felt a bad for Massa as well. He is a good guy. I have been following F1 for two decades, but it is getting more difficult to be a fan in North America as the facist leadership in the FIA cancels all of our races. First Indy, now Montreal?!!! How can F1 call itself a global sport when it runs just one event in all of the Americas -- Brazil. It is particularly hard to believe given that most of the manufacturers in F1 sell the majority of their cars in North America.

I was beginning to think I was the only one that thought that way about the FIA. However, the FIA are only the governing body of motor sport and I don't think they have any say in where F1 actually goes. But, if they feel the circuit isn't up to it for what ever reason, then they advise with a NO. (Monaco perfect for F1? I don't think so).

I have no idea why they keep cancelling out the US, probably because you don't want to pay "Bernie the Gnome" enough money (he runs and owns F1). This is why he's taking the race away from Silverstone (the home of British motor sport, owned by the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC), and the first F1 race I went to see back in the late 60s) and giving it to Donnington Park, a place with no facilities at present and dreadful access. There are a number of new circuits being built by very wealthy countries - Bahrain, China, Singapore etc - that all want a slice of the cake and are prepared to pay for it. So, as you can't have the F1 season extended, those that can't, or wont, pay, have to make way for those that will.

He truly is a nasty, hypocritical, mean little man who wont listen to any argument but his own.

(That's what I'm told, anyway)

IMO, Ecclestone is completely out of touch with the sport and the fans who follow it. Ecclestone has only one expectation that any venue must meet or exceed - will this place help me maximize my revenue? - If a venue isn't prepared to jump through his hoops and pay his extortionate fees they can forget about hosting F1. In truth, Montreal had been dragging its feet with the needed track improvements but that was hardly reason to yank the race. Indy never had such issues though and as a track it's second to none. But I don't think Tony George was prepared to jump through Bernie's other profiteering hoops. The massage is clear, none of the current or traditional tracks are immune from his draconian axe.

If this sport is to survive and to restore some lost credibility both Bernie and Max need to go. The only ones that can make this happen are the manufacturers. Unfortunately, as long as they play along with Bernie, his ways are only validated.

I couldn't agree more. As a fan of F1, I have been to at least a dozen of the races in Montreal the last one being in 2005. Its really sad to see that (insert expletive here) hobbit Bernie Eccelstone and Mosley that (more expletives) Nazi orgy loving ass ruin F1 by taking it away from North America and other parts of Europe, where F1 has its history. Its all about greed and its sickening. I still think in the long run these new venues will not stand the test of time (like an Indy or Montreal). I say kudos to Tony George who stood his ground. He knows more about racing than those clowns EVER WILL. Plus Bernie was thinking of awarding points like the Olympics??? These two are single handedly bringing down F1.

I just read in the last issue of Autoweek that Bernie's wife of nearly 25 years has filed for divorce. Apparently, most of his assets are in her name for tax purposes. They are speculating that this could be the largest divorce settlement in UK history. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy

Regardless of what Tony George has done or is doing, the point is I'm glad that he stood up to that jerk.

Hey kristoj. I read about the divorce too. He married a Croatian model, and I can tell you from experience (I married one too) he's lucky if comes out with his testicles. Total sweetness

P.S. Aside from all that crap, the last F1 race was exciting. As Ferrari fan, I felt bad for Massa but was happy for Hamilton.

Isn't there anyone in the F1 community that can stop Bernie??? Anyone???. F-ing medals. I want screaming V12 or V10 and he wants to do Medals. He is so out of Touch! Just ban carbon Fiber Brakes and those stupid barge boards and you will have overtaking galore.

Great idea! I am sure Michael Schummacher(worlds highest paid athelete at the time),would have tried much harder

for a shot at a gold(plated) medal. That is beyond ridiculous!!

The gnome's a NUTTER

This rediculous "medal" idea all came about because he (aledgedly, I wasn't there so I have to believe the media) said that Hamilton didn't deserve to win the Championship because he didn't try hard enough during the last race. Hmmm..........not sure I and several million others would agree with that
