am i the only one that has this problem? if so, cool. there must be an answer.
i use three different machines to log onto the internet, and then this forum. if i stick to the "standard" two machines, one at work and one at home, i have no troubles.
when i attempt to use a third machine, i must log on SEVERAL times before the forum will recognize me as an authorized user. I will go thru the log in procedure just fine, but then...when the board index finally displays, i am not logged in.
not insurmountable.... but terribly frustrating.
is there a solution i dunno about?
Log In Trouble
Re: Log In Trouble
I'd suggest you run a hardware diagnostic test on the pc in question. You may have a memory failure occuring
Re: Log In Trouble
my memory fails me daily, mark. but that is not a hardware issue, it is a grey matter issue.
and, the trouble i refer to occurs on each of the three machines i regularly use....but only when i attempt to use three.
for example, i had the trouble today on the work machine because i logged in yesterday from my laptop. I will now be fine at work until i attempt to log in from the home desktop.
it is as if the software can handle two IP addresses, but not three.

Re: Log In Trouble
Mike,
I have the same problem. I have to actually click on the "board index" button/link right after I log in, if I dont and just wait for it to appear it takes me back to the log in screen and makes me start over. You may be right about the multiple IP address idea being the problem because I usually have this problem at work where we use multiple servers.

Re: Log In Trouble
well, then thanks. it appears it is not just me. it is annoying, but not insurmountable.
Re: Log In Trouble
It happens with me too but I only use one computer for the website. I wonder if logging-in while connected to a network makes an issue, but I've never had this problem with other php boards I use.
Re: Log In Trouble
This happens to me when I try to log in while using dial up from my cottage, It makes you log-in twice every time and forgets your log-in the next time you try to get in. Never happens at home with DSL.
Re: Log In Trouble
I am having the same issue. I am using only one computer (from home). I am doing nothing unique or special. I just log in and when I try to post or look at various discussion topics it asks me to log in because I do not have permission to view the topic.
Re: Log In Trouble
I have similar issues. I log in, it shows the "you have successfully logged in" screen, and then logs me out. I had attributed it to the fact that I'm using an older PowerPC based mac with firefox. Only workaround I've found is to hit the "log me in automatically each time" checkbox before I log in. That keeps it from logging me out.
Re: Log In Trouble
OK gang...it's happening to me, too, as of this evening!! Same deal...I log in and it kicks me off about 1/2 a dozen times before it finally let me post - this!! Glad to see it's not just me. And, this is the first time it's happened. Hopefully it's just something in the air this evening!!
