All Jacked Up
A stupid little thing I know, but his one has me stumped. How does the jack mount inside the fender of my '82 Spider? The PO had it rolled up in an old baby blanket and stuffed in there. I've looked at both of my service manuals and the owners manual, but i just can't seem to figure it out. I know I'll need the rubber strap as well, but I'm not even sure what that looks like. Any pics would be helpful.

I don't know if it's the same as my 72 but here are a couple pics. Notice the nose of the jack rests in a bracket welded to the car:

Well the configuration here is much different then yours Denise. The mount on mine is much closer to the side marker light. Here's a couple of photos. Anyone else have a pic of how the jack goes into a later model Spider?

What's that black rubber thing sticking out of the bracket? Does it belong there? Maybe if it's removed the end of the jack will fit in the hole like mine does. It looks to be the same configuration.

Re: All Jacked Up
Here's a shot of mine. I've got the rubber strap around here somewhere. The end that the handle goes on goes in a hole up in out of sight.

I don't have a picture but in your configuration the bracket with a hole is out of site on the left of the picture and is further up in the body. The bracket pictured holds the end of the jack and the rubber strap attached to the two tabs that protrude from the sided of the bracket. I hope that clears things up, at least slightly.

OK, now it all makes sense. The hidden bracket with the hole was the key. Now I just have to find the rubber strap somewhere. Thanks all.
