I'm looking for a set of the early Fiat 124 springs - (which are a bit shorter) for my Fiat Spider 2000. My goal is to lower the car a bit without sacrificing the stock ride.
I've found a guy who will sell me a set of 4 springs off of a 72 Fiat Coupe - shipped to my address in Georgia for $75, but was wondering if in fact the '72 Couple and '72 Spider springs were the same. (He claims that they are - and that may be correct, but I just wanted to check with some experts on the Forum before agreeing to this deal...)
Do I need to find springs off of a Spider, or are these Coupe springs identical size and spring rate wise?
Is $75 a reasonable price to pay? Thanks - Dave

Hey Dave,
I am not positive, but I think they are the same spring. The price is fair.I was goin to do the same w/ my 82 but decided I didnt want to mess with the ride. I am running 15'' wheels and was worried about clearance.Check with 'sjmst' ,he did have a set off a Spider he wanted to sell.Where are you at in Ga.? I am in Blairsville.

Running gear for the spider and coupe are the same. The coupe is actually lighter than the spider so the springs might be a little softer. Not sure but I would guess they are the same rate. Taking off one or one and a half coils on the stock springs won't affect the performance of the spring or create any clearance issues if you are running stock mags or steelies. $75 isn't something I'd spend on stock springs that are 30 plus years old. If you want to keep your stock springs unmolested than it's not a bad price.
