Re: Off to the Body Shop
Do you happen to have any sort of useable paint code for that one? I went to my local paint shop and they were less than helpful. Basically, they threw me a paint sample chart for Dupont, I asked if they had any of the old import color charts and they said no, they didn't think so. Gee, thanks.pope wrote:Hard to beat the Ferrari Rossa Red.
Re: Off to the Body Shop
This is the RED that you think of when you saw Ferrari. They have been using it since the 1920's. They have other reds, but this is the one on 80% of the red ferraris. This is a non metallic color. Called Rosso Corsa (race red)
Ferrari paint code : Rosso Corsa 322
PPG paint code : 75250
Glaserit : FER 300
You will find that even these numbers change slightly through the years as they never keep the exact code all the time. Slight number changes that would not be noticeable to you or I. In the late 90's Ferrari changed their race colors to a brighter oranger red for TV.

Re: Off to the Body Shop
Thanks, I think that's the one. I was looking at some of the "hot hues" at the paint shop, and I think they're a bit over the top for a Spider. I really like that red, I was looking at the Ferrari website trying to get a handle on the other reds, but I keep going back to the Ferrari red. I know its not metallic, but I like it. I was looking at it on some eBay motors Ferrari ads, with a "buy it now" price of $225,000, or the price of 187.5 of my cars.

Agreed, that is a nice color.ga.spyder wrote:Porsche 'Guards Red' is a color that pops, also!
I tend to like a deep red, so here is my all time favorite.
BMW Imola Red!

Re: Off to the Body Shop
Tony--I have a 78 with original red paint and the paint tag is still in the trunk. The red is called "Rosso", the code # is 152. If you go original I hope this helps.
Best of luck.........Jim
