ANSA Muffler

I'm going with this http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/produ ... f6d901c624. The tech I spoke with at Flowmaster has one on his Honda, and he says this is the right muffler for a 100-120 hp 4-cylinder street car. I'll use the stock 4-2-1 and dual downtube, then shop-bent 1-3/4" to the rear of the car. This unit is an inch thicker than what's there now, but should clear OK.

Will let you know in January how it sounds and performs on a modified 1.8 Unfortunately, I won't be able to A/B with a stock system, due to the cost of dyno time.

I'm eager to get started on the powertrain rebuild, but still want to drive whenever the weather cooperates. Hmmm, maybe if I had another Spider ....

That's the same muffler I have on my car, and it's a fairly deep sound (I also have the resonator taken out).

I like the sound, but for my taste it could be louder, but like them really LOUD

actually, i dont have a site yet. havent figured out how to put one together. im not very computer savey.but i have a friend that might help me put something together soon.

I do have a cat, I wish I didn't, but I still have to abide by smog law here in Cali

Mine should therefore be a little bit louder without a catalytic converter. Might be just about right!

Looks like a good deal but I do have a question. Why are all of the ANSA ads I see for '79+ 2.0l? Do they make one for the early model Spiders? I am looking for an exhaust set up from the header back for a '71. Suggestions?

I believe ANSA discontinued the early stuff some years ago. You're faced with finding a competent muffler shop to build a custom system

i would think if you bought that set up, you could have a muff shop rework the pipe so it fits correctly. thats a great price.
