Side cable help

Post by joelbert2k »

I got my new top yesterday and so today I removed the old one. Overall the frame looks pretty good, some rust on the front bow but I think it can be saved. While checking things over and planning the install I was looking for the spots to attach the side cables. I found some excellent pictures and descriptions for the rear anchor points but there is much said about the front. Since there weren't any cables installed with the old top I've got no idea where they go. I don't see any obvious screws or pins to hook the cable loops to. Does anyone have a pic that shows the location or give a good description of the attachment point?

I hope this photo helps - I'm not quite sure of the terminology you North Americans use, but we of the Antipodes still use the Queen's English and call the soft fabric material covering of the passenger compartment the 'HOOD', and the metal frames that support it are called 'HOOD BOWS'. You should find a couple of small posts with large flat heads on them right out at the extreme edges on the end of the front hood bow which the cable loops connect to.

Thanks Curly! That's just what I was looking for. Unfortunately there is only a hole in that location on mine. That's would be why I couldn't see where to hook them.

I agree whit Alvon on the dash. Nice , very nice!

The wood in the dash is a local species of Acacia known as Silver Wattle.
