Anyone know the difference between an auto and a manual diff ? I read somewhere that the auto diff was a good match to the 5 speed ???
Any clues...

Re: Diff performance
Diff Gear Ratios are different.
Around 3.50 to 1 for the auto diff.
3.90 for 79 to 85.5 spiders - Manual
4.30 to 1 for mid seventies spiders 74 to 78?
4.10 for early spiders.

Re: Diff performance
my 70 had 411,s, now it has the autos 354,s, and im running a 5 speed. everyone one said i was nuts, but i did it anyway. im happy with it. of course i have a built 2 liter to make those gears workable. dosent take much pedal to cruise the fwy at 70 with this set up. i know one day a while back i had the car at about 125 mph on the fwy. and there was more left in it. this things a dream at high speeds, and still has very good low end torque.
