Hello all.
Just got an 84’ Pininfarina that used to have ac. I’ve done a good amount of research and am aware of the power suck that it can have on the engine…but I live in west Florida and the hot days will make it miserable to drive if I dont have some cool air coming in.
Q: Has anyone reinstalled and ac ( been looking at this one. https://www.midwest-bayless.com/p-27079 ... t-fit.aspx) and if so, do you have an amount of labor time it took? I don’t want to get hosed by the mechanic for extra Labor costs if at all possible. Thank you for any input.

I also have an 84, with completely intact air conditioning. I was told by my shop that it was pretty useless 0 it did not cool very much and was a general PIA. I do not use it - we rarely have super hot days in Chicago. I have turned it on a few times, and it did blow sort of cooler air.

Re: reinstalling a/c on 84’ Pininfarina labor time?
Im in central florida. I get where A/C is necessary. Back in the day i had a 82 spider turbo with port installed air. when new it was marginal. But marginal wasnt so bas as on a rainy hot day when the top was up it did help with some comfort. Retrofitting the system to r134 does pose a few challenges. But having researched it and I am about to do this on my current 82, which has the "port" air setup. You need a much more efficient condenser. Thats where the magic happens. Once I find the one that will fit and work I will let you know if you are interested.jsorvillo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 08, 2025 11:55 am Hello all.
