Hi, I've lived in Barcelona for 8 years although i'm English and previously lived in Argentina for 10 years. I recently bought a beautiful 1975 Fiat 124 Spider 1800. It's registered as historic which means it's all original and is exempt from the Low Emission Rules in the city centre.
Unfortunately I'm no mechanic and my knowledge of cars is limited. Luckily the Spider is so far 100% reliable. Could someone be kind enough to tell me where the front jacking point is though on a 70's Spider please.

You have two choices. To raise the entire front end, slide your floor jack under the engine, past the oi drain plug. There you will see the crossmember that goes from side to side. You can raise the car by jacking on that crossmember. Alternatively, if you just want to raise one side, there are jacking points under the rocker panels just behind the front wheels.

Thanks for your quick reply, I want to raise one side only. I'll look there.

Re: New Member and first question
Hi John,
forst of all: Welcome! Barcelona is a beautiful CIty, but driving a historic vehicle there?!
Have you any pics to share? We always would like to see some "new" cars here!
Is your car already listed in the worldwide Spider Register?! Spain actually counts 232 cars incl. 60 CS1 Spider 1800. See here:
https://www.fiatspider.de/register?Fahr ... ective=All
If your car is not listed, it would be great to get the car data plus pic for publication. Thanks in advance!
Saludos Ralf

Re: New Member and first question
Hi Ralf, I can post some pictures for sure. No i'm not aware of the Worldwide Spider register but it would be great to be included. Maybe I may learn some history of my own car as I have none. Can you explain how I can do that. I do have an unusual vin no. 0098765. I'll try going to the website you attached.
Thanks
John
Thanks

Re: New Member and first question
Hi John,
thanks for serial number. We already got your car. See here:
https://www.fiatspider.de/register/vehicle/412
(link not static monthly changing)
This is from the sales ad, car looks great in this color combination:
So this is your complete serial or chassis number: 124CS10098765! The known 17-digt VIN must be used from 1981. So before that date Fiat used his own logic! Your number is just a chronological number, so the 98,765th built car plus/minus x% (Italian mathematics!)
Cheers Ralf

Re: New Member and first question
Haha, yes that is my car. What a surprise. I have different wing mirrors that I had moved forward but yes the colour co-ordination is really great.
