I have an 81 spider and noticed that the hose on the first fuel Injector was leaking .... if I try and replace just the hose how do I get the old one out and how do I get that strange looking flared piece of of metal holding the hose in the rail and at the bottom of the Injector ( sorry for my ignorance I just don't know how to get it off) ... 2nd Idea would be to replace the the injector itself and if I do that do I need some sort of tool or does it pop out ??
Thanks for any help

Re: Fuel Injector hose leaking
My feeling on this: If one hose is leaking and all the hoses appear the same vintage they all should be changed. This is a good time to have the fuel injectors professionally serviced, cleaned internal filters and pintles replaced and flow matched.
I think its easiest to remove the entire fuel rail with hoses and injectors attached to work on it on a work bench off the car.

Re: Fuel Injector hose leaking
I replaced the injectors on my father's '81 within the past year and they all came with that short section of hose attached, thus I am not familiar with that side of the connection. As for the hose-to-rail connection, I remember being a bit intimidated by that metal flange piece as I was worried about damaging it. Clearly, I got it off somehow...getting the whole rail on the bench would help.
Regarding that, getting the injectors out to remove the rail will require only some dexterity and a small wrench. There is something like an 8mm nut holding down a retainer on each injector. Once those are removed, some wiggling and pulling will get the injectors out. Then you search the floor for the nuts you dropped.

Re: Fuel Injector hose leaking
Thanks so much for the help.... I did some more reading and it looks like I might be able to just change the hose that's leaking ... because the injector was working it just has a vacume leak from the hose .... I think.., hahah
