Engine number

Post by Steve124 »

I have an engine in my spider with 132AB1 cast into the block. What size engine is this? I was told it was a 1995cc but would like to verify this before starting a rebuild.

The number cast into the side of the block is just a casting number, so it won't tell you which engine you have. You need to find the engine code, which is stamped either right above the oil filter mounting flange (earlier engines), or stamped into a flat surface just forward of the driver's side engine mount bracket (later engines). There will be a mix of numbers and letters (and sometimes a slash or a period) which is the engine number, and right below that will be a seven digit number which is the block serial number.
