Turning Over, But Not Starting

Back in May my 85 started stuttering after driving for several minutes. When I waited a few minutes the car started up and ran fine for awhile. Upon inspection I noticed the fuel tank had rust. I ordered a new tank, but had to leave town for an extended period before I could install it. I finally got around to installing it this week, but the car will not start. It turns over, but does not start. I thought it might be something about the fuel delivery, but there is fuel making it to the throttle body. Any ideas where to look?

A rusty tank can lead to a plugged fuel pump inlet. Maybe only partially plugged. Have you pulled the fuel line at the regulator and checked that pressure and flow meet spec? If not try pulling the fuel pump and see if there is rust flakes in the inlet. If fuel delivery is up to spec do you have spark at the plugs?

Do you have a service manual for your car? If not I would start by joining mirafiori.com and going to the library and downloading one. There will be a procedure and specs. Sorry but I'm on the way out the door fishing and will be out of comm for the next 3 days. Perhaps someone else can chime in.
