PO can't find/doesn't have the keys for my 1981. Is it possible to get keys made from a vin # or other information that may be on the car?

There are no such records that I am aware of. Best bet is to call a good locksmith. If you remove the lock from the glove box door, he/she should be able to cut a key to fit. Glove box, doors and trunk use the same key. Ignition is separate key. Again, you may be able to remove ingnition switch and have key made. Otherwise, you will have to replace the iginition switch.

If you need it, I have a new ignition switch with keys. Just let me know and we can work something out. I have heard it is a real PITA to get the old one out without the keys though, so you may want to ask about that before you decide to go that route.

i don't mean to correct John, but i believe you will have to remove the whole steering column on the inside to get that ignition switch to the locksmith. Is it possible to get a QUALITY locksmith to the car?

These guys are right. I forgot that step one in the process of removing the ignition switch is to insert the key and turn to the position marked by a small arrow on the switch -- kind of hard to do if you don't have the key!

What can I say -- it's Monday.

In any event, you need a good locksmith.
