Just picked up a pretty '79 Fiat after a patient search.

Nice car but in need of much TLC to bring her around.

Anxious to learn from you all!

Welcome, Vintage!

I don't know what elevation you're at, but if it's more than 4000 feet, your engine is likely running rich and could benefit from a step or two down in the sizes of the carb's main jets. Let us know if you need more info. Spark plug color is one way to tell.

Hey - thanks for the warm welcome!

The car seems to be running decent, but does need a water pump. I think I can tackle the water pump without too many issues, but I'm figuring on trying to swap the timing belt while I'm in there, and that has me anxious a bit. Don't want to mess that one up!

I'll get some pics for you soon. She needs a good bath, so as soon as that is knocked out I'll snap a few quick photos!

Welcome to the Fiat Forum, look me up if you happen to come down to Colorado Springs any time. I have an 81 Fiat and a 78 MGB and a WW2 1943 Jeep that I restored to like new. My friend Walt here has about 1/2 a dozen old Spiders.

I just got my 81 Spider project running real good and have put a few miles on it today..such a fun little car to drive !

We can provide you with enough info so that you can swap out the water pump AND change the timing belt without messing either one up! Both are common, and 'easy', mechanical projects for the Spider,...
I have got pics and info galore!! Other members have gobs more!
The forum members are happy to help,...and welcome!
