installing oil pressure sender

Post by markko »

Hi everyone,

Just got Gina out of storage here in the Great White North. I have several projects I want to knock off before driving season. The first is to install an oil pressure gauge in place of the clock. I bought both the gauge and the sending unit from AR. I found the port in the front of the oil filter housing and removed the plug, no problem. But when I went to install the sending unit, I discovered that it is so wide and long that it interferes with the alternator belt. My first thought was to switch the sensor for the idiot light on the back of the housing, which is somewhat smaller, if memory serves, and put it in the front. But before I do that (and I'm not sure it will work), does anybody out there have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mark

Apparently, I didn't look deep enough into the search results, because I now see a thread that has a link to an adaptor, but also confirms that the sender for the light will go in the front. Has anyone done this, and can you confirm that it works?

That is what I did on my '80 and it works fine.

Thanks. That’s what I did and it fits. I’ve spent many happy days fishing in Campbell River. I’ll keep an eye out for your car when I’m there in July.
