Hello from Spokane, Washington
Starting work on restoration of a running 1978 124 Spider. This was an emotional purchase based on the presumed color and year as my wife and I owned one when we were first married and drove it from Tulsa, Ok to the East Coast and back. I had to sell it before the Army took us to Germany in 1989. I had my dad sell it, which he did, to a guy from Nürnburg! So if our 'Sebastian' lives, he lives in Deutchland. Now I embark with great enthusiasm (that far outweighs my practical knowledge) with a restoration, that included much more rust repair than I anticipated...but I know that is a common issue. Looking forward to your pooled knowledge.

Hello!
We just bought a rally car from Spokane. Being picked up tomorrow
Enjoy the spider. I can't tell you too much about rust repair on these, as my '78 doesn't have any. There's a few other jobs that are a pita though.
Cheers

You've come to the right place. I restored my 1974, and without this forum it would be a pile of parts in my garage. I like to say that the Fiat and this forum transformed me from someone who knew nothing about cars and was afraid to work on them into someone who knows dangerously little about cars and tears into them with abandon! Now I embark with great enthusiasm (that far outweighs my practical knowledge) with a restoration, that included much more rust repair than I anticipated...but I know that is a common issue. Have you any informations about your old car 'Sebastian'? Have you already checked out the worldwide Spider Register to find your old car? There are 13 CS1 Spider in Bavaria (incl. Nürnberg) from 1978:
https://www.fiatspider.de/register?Fahr ... ive=Bayern
With filtering the right color you can narrow this list. Just try it out! Best search result would be with an existing chassisnumber.
What about your new purchase? Can we get some pics? .. and the VIN for the worldwide Register?
Bye, Ralf
PS: Happy new year to you all! Stay save and keep healthy!

Ralf,
That was quite a surprise! I did search the forum and found three green Spiders, but none had pictures. I would know mine in a second! I had a teak wood rear luggage deck and the dash was English Burlwood.
The project car VIN is: 124CS10134298. Not yet ready for pictures!
Veilen Dank!
