I removed the windshield wiper cowl and to my surprise I found A nest made of fiberglass insulation, cotton insulation, and acorns. I cleaned, vacuumed and oiled the joints. The wipers work fast again and the heater blows fast air.
I would attach pictures but I can't figure out how??? I hit the img tab, not what?

You need to post the pictures on a host photo service first. Like Flickr, Photobucket, or your .mac site if you have one. It does not work from a link from your own computer

Thats pretty common on mid-west and southern cars. Now that you got it cleaned out you should take the time to clean it well and put a coating in there. Every time you drive through rain, it gets down in that "bathtub" and sits until it drains out or evaporates. The location of the weep holes allows a small amount of water to puddle behind the lip. I used a brush applied liquid waterproofing /roofing product. Get a non Asphaltic based, or try to find a modified or rubberized. Also a spray on bed liner or undercoating will do, just make sure you mask off the rest of the car. Also adjust the flap cable.

Hey Matt, Where can I find a flap? The flap on mine is rusted out.

Is the flap rusted out, or just the pivot pin? You chould be able to find something to replace the pin/rod at a good hardware store. The flap would have to come off a parts car if anyone has one, try the parts for sale/wanted sections. There are a few guys breaking apart cars for parts, the flap should be universal to all years, buy at least try to get something close to the year of your car. You should be able to get one for under $5.
