Hi from the Isle of Wight in the UK

Post by Tony951 »

Just acquired a 1981 124 Spider LE, my first Fiat since we bought my (now ex) wife a brand new Fiat Strada in about 1980 - that one lasted about 6 years before it was so rusty we had to give it away. My 124 spent its life up to 2013 in San Bernardino and appears to be mostly free of the dreaded tin worm except for the passenger floor, which appears to have suffered from a leaking heater control valve. I am slowly stripping it ready for a respray in the spring so hopefully will be able to use it next summer.
I am not aware of any other Spiders on the island, so if anyone has one please get in touch.

Hi Tony,
welcome to the Forum! You are from the Isle of Wight? Interesting, the worldwide Spider Register counts one car from the Island: It's a dark blue 81 Spider, which has been for sale in 2019, see here:
https://www.fiatspider.de/register/vehicle/1931

I have to look for some pics!

Is your LE still original with that champagne metallic color? What's the Limited Edition no.?

Would be great to include your car, thanks in advance!

Bye Ralf

Hi Ralf
Mine is no 184 and still in the metallic champagne colour though it looks more of a dull beige now. Although I would really like to keep the car original the champagne colour does not appeal to me so I plan to respray it light blue.
I will look out for the dark blue one. We have a little car show here on the island every year at the end of August, its very well attended but no sign of any other Spiders. I will take mine along in 2023, maybe the other owner will say hello.

Hi Tony,
we already got your car with some history, see here:
https://www.fiatspider.de/register/vehicle/462
(link not static, monthly changing and: wrong LE-number in description field is corrected offline)

Would be great to get an actual pic of the car (now and later after repaint) plus the chassis no. beginning with ZFA..

Good luck to you and .. a Happy New Year!

Cheers Ralf
