EFI spider pre fuel pump strainer

Post by sida555 »

Anyone able to find a good solution for a pre pump strainer which fits the 7/16" inlet hose on the efi fiats ? I know the pump should not be starved since it cools from fuel itself. The older Audi's etc had a pre screener was wondering if someone made a something like that for our cars. I saw some 10micron mesh strainer which jegs sell but they are 3/8 inlet/outlet barbs. Midwest-bayless sells a pre pump screener dont know barb sizes. Wondering if anyone used one of those?

I have replaced the hose between the tank and fuel pump with 1/2 " then used a Wix filter 33248 with good results.
Some of the vendors supply a filter to fit the 12 mm original hose. Here is a link to one.

hope this helps

I have a glass pre-filter similar to this; then you could see crud from fuel tank that filter catches before fuel pump

Thanks for the feedback. I was looking at glass filters as well but, arnt those removable glass filters notorious to leaking. How is it holding up ? Also 50micron filtering is not too much for pre pump?

It has been fine- I have not noticed leak. I can see why some can leak- not a fail-safe connection. However : the filter is on a low pressure side- so not a lot of vacuum/pressure on filter. I do have it wrapped in an old washcloth so it doesn’t bounce around and crack
