POR 15 application

Post by davefrancisco »

Hi Folks,

Doing some metal work, fixing some small holes, etc. When done I plan on coating the floor with POR 15. My question is, has anyone applied POR 15 on the rubber coating? I removed some of the rubber coating where I'm doing the repairs, but want to know if I need to remove all of it.

Thanks

I think you should remove all the rubber coating and make sure you have a clean and 100% dry surface. In fact, I would not apply POR 15 on a Humid day. Any moisture will be trapped between the new bonded surface and the metal. This is one of the main reasons I would remove all jute and residue on the floor. I've had POR 15 on my Spider Floors for about 10 years now with no issues at all. I have heard horror stories from car owners that had moisture trapped. Also, I would not apply POR 15 anyplace that might be exposed to sunlight after application. As I understand it, sunlight breaks down the POR15.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll take this advice. Some more effort now for less headaches later.
