reason to keep tubular bumpers?

I am getting my 1981 spider ready for paint and removed the ridiculous bumpers. I had to sawz-all the rear left bolt (by the fuel tank), the tank wouldn't pull out cleanly to create enough clearance.

I have ordered the chrome classic-style bumper kit from AR. Is there any reason to keep the original bumpers? They weigh a ton, they are clearly unshippable to anyone who might want them. Do I just take them to the dump? I feel bad about throwing away parts that might be of use to someone. I was planning on removing the front turn signals once I manage to get the rusted and rounded nuts off.

I did throw the "shocks" away. But they fit in the recycling can.

I took my radiator, the bumpers, and other stuff to the recycling center. It wasn't much but I got a few bucks.

You may need to get at the bolt restricted by the gas tank to put the new bumpers on. You can shift the tank using some short 2X4 blocks on an angle to get access to the bolt. Make sure you do not kink the filler hose in the process.

I followed the advice and took the bumpers to a local scrap yard. Left with $2.60 in my pocket! 65 pounds * 4 cents.
