Anybody ever strip a water pump bolt? If so, what did you do?

Did the bolt break off, or are the threads stripped? If the threads are stripped, do you know if it's the female threads in the block or the male threads in the bolt that are stripped? Or both?

Turns out the bolt broke. Took off the fuel pump and there was about 3/16 of an inch of bolt sticking out. Easily removed it.
