Voltage regulator with new alternator

Voltage regulator with new alternator
My 72 spider has a new alternator with a built in voltage regulator. There is no collection on the alternator for thea wire in the harness from the alternator to the regulator. Because the regulator is still connected to the fuse pannel, the wire is still hot. Can i just remove the fender mounted voltage regulator?

Yes, you should be able to remove the external voltage regulator and leave the grey (I think it grey) wire disconnected.
