New Account, Old Car..

Hi everyone,

I'm glad to finally have registered here after years of reading entertainment. I'm in northern California in the south bay area and I have a 1980 Spider 2000. This car has been in my family since the 80's, I actually did a full engine/transmission/suspension rebuild and restoration for my uncle when it was his. He's recently handed it down to me and the journey begins..again. I'm in the process of replacing and upgrading pretty much everything, and welding/filling/teardown in preparation for a color change paint job.

A little background on me; I used to run a powder coating business and worked as a motorcycle and small engine mechanic in the same shop. I enjoyed every minute of that period of my life. It's times like this I wish I still had the shop!

I'm trying to take as many pictures of the project as possible and I'll post some up here for those interested. I'm always interested to see someone else's project and modifications.

Welcome, Matt. I'm in the East Bay (Livermore), so you're welcome to come up some time and check out Ye Olde '69 and '71 spiders and workshop. I've got a fair amount of spare parts (mostly for the earlier years), so holler if you need anything.
