new door wire looms
does anyone know, why does my 82 need wires going into each door. and to install new looms, apparently you have to remove the door card. There's no power windows, and the tiny button on the front turns on the under dash light. What do these wires do? Anyone know if I should keep the metal part that held the original looms? Just bought a pair but now wondering.

Those are for speakers…I believe
I just bought myself two new wire loom conduits. I did keep the metal part. It’ll make for a more secure attachment of the new ones—given that they will be subject to lots of stress from opening and closing the doors.

And no, there’s no need to remove the door cards…unless that for some reason your existing wires are somehow stuck inside the door. But they should come out by gently pulling on them.

Those wires were for power windows. I took mine out.

Re: new door wire looms
Thanks all. Essentially I don’t need them. Appreciate the advice, as always.
