Convertible top install question

Post by rbryan2006 »

I'm in the process of getting the frame and top back on. PO already had both off. Wondering if both mounting bolts on each side are supposed to have bumper washers? I can only find 2 in the bag of hw that came with the car. One for each side?

Also, just curious, are both the drain tubes supposed to drain into the rocker panel?

Yes, one washer per bolt per side. The washer is about 1/4' thick.

There is a hole for the rubber drain tube which should be easy to spot.

Could be wrong on this, but my impression was that the thick washers were to address production variances in the width of the body and the width of the frame for the top. So, use whatever washers (spacers) are necessary to get the brackets on each side lined up with the body, and everything centered.

Thank you! I used the two I had and found a third one while digging around in another box. The 2 seem to keep it centered. If I have problems I'll go back and put the other ones in.

Just seems weird that they drain into the rocker panel... considering how many rust issues they can have.

The two I have seem to do the trick. I found a third one and if I have problems will go back and address. Thanks Bryan!
