How are Fiat heaters?

Post by Leesfer »

Now that winter is slowly rolling in, how are the heaters in these cars?

Ever since I have had my car, the heater had been disconected so I actually have never experienced it's success or failure, whateer it may be.

Do the heaters work nicely? Is it worth fixing for winter or should I just leave it alone?

Keep in mind, this is my daily driver...

I am curious myself, as I drive mine 3 to 4 times a week.

I was going to actually look at fixing mine in a couple of weeks.

The heaters on Spiders are extremely efficient. In fact, the smell of rubber burning shouldn't alarm you since it's probably just your shoes melting.

Heat is beneficial to aide the defogers, or here the defrosters.

Leesfer,
Being that I seldom drive with the top up, and being that the air is always a little cool along the west coast, I welcome having the heat, and use it pretty much year round. With the top up, the heater puts out more heat than you would ever need in our climate. In fact, even on the coldest days (low 40's), you'd just barely crack the heater air mix open. With the top down, it will keep the lower part of your legs and feet warm -- throw on a good jacket and hat, and you're good to go, even on the coldest days.

oh, i know this one. Winter, -18F, top up (duh), 15 minute drive. Had to turn the heat down. I AM NOT FABRICATING THIS SCENARIO. i know i can exaggerate, but I'm not, it really was 18 below. I can't believe how warm this little convertible can get.

Danno exaggerates? Well, I'll be.... didn't know that. Honest.

But, he speak-um truth, Khemosabi when he speak of much heat in Fiat cabin. no fork tongue. Tonto no like-um white stuff on ground. Spider keep-um white stuff away with much heat.

Winter? In San Diego??? You are kidding right? Can't speak for others, but my heater will burn your feet when it is on full blast. Of course, my car gets put away for the winter. But in Autumn, even at 40 degrees, it blows really hot.

The heater in my '82 gets hotter than any other car I own, as long as you can figure out how it works. Whoever designed the controls drank a bit too much vino. It burns my throttle foot!

They work pretty good if there is not an old pile of leaves on top of the heater core. Remove the cowl panel and check under that flap. Also a good way to tell if your thermostat is working. Hot air for 10 min then luke warm for 15 min, repeat. The engine and trans produce enough heat for me.
