So I am watching Spider's on eBay, like all of you I'm sure. Did you guys/gals see this car?
First ad, with a Buy it Now price of $15,000. No way it goes for that.

So, item gets relisted, and sell for $3627.00 ? !? Oh my how the mighty have fallen. Although it likes like that bidder was a deadbeat, so this may go up again.

Well, if it did sell for that amount, that's a heck of a deal. Very well bought. You could pay 50 percent more than that and it would still be well bought.

You should try Craigslist. My parents still live there and I search for cars and parts often. Recently there have been several good deals on X/19's. Try searches for Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati. Always a few spiders in the Cincy area. Some lady, just today posted for sale a 71 Fiat 500 with a 650 engine, ground up restoration, $3000 http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/879953856.html Almost asked a friend to buy it for me.

Re: This Spider's value sure dropped quick
Beware. The Fiat 500 is a TOTAL scam. Look at my e-mail exchange below (read from bottom up):
Hi,
The car is already at a shipping company in Roseburg, Oregon. I took the car to them to be able to ship it to a potential buyer whilst I'm out of town.My brother in law works there, and he promised me that it will cost me nothing to ship it in the Continental US. I also have the car listed on eBay and that lets me use their secured system. I'm very busy with my job and I'm sorry I can't meet you in person. According to eBay you have 5 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not.
So please let me know if you are interested so i can give you the directions to the ebay site so you can check the auction.

Hi,
The car is still for sale.It is in perfect shape. It has no scratches, dents and it was never involved in an accident or something like that. You can check the carfax yourself, the VIN is 1942070.It has 53,646 miles. Here are some more pics http://s387.photobucket.com/albums/oo31 ... ks_photos/. I have a clear title and it is on my name.I am forced by a bank loan to sell it so I need the money and I must do that.Dont worry, the loan does not involve the car.
My final price is 2700.I already have tons of emails so I hope you understand that I need to sort them out.I will take in consideration only those buyers who are really interested in buying the car, to be sure that I don't waste my time with endless discussions. This way, I shall be assured of the serious intentions.
Thank you.

And then I ran across this: http://solaros.com/smf_production/index ... pic=3256.0. You know what they say, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Re: This Spider's value sure dropped quick
I also belong to the Land Rover club here and Florida and she runs the same scam with Land Rovers and is running one as we speak. Some of the members have been Emailing this person back and forth and posting the replies just like this one. When ever you offer to show up with cash in person the item is sold or has been moved somewhere else. Oh the internet.....
Then again if it wasn't for the internet none of us would know to look out for this scammer.

Re: This Spider's value sure dropped quick
har har... i love that "it is in perfect shape"
reminds me of a tele-con i had last week with a used car dealer concerning a Miata i was looking at while he sat in his livingroom at home. Remember that I live i Michigan.
me: What's wrong with the car?
him: Nothing. It is in perfect condition.
me: Clutch and transmission o.k.?
him: transmission makes a whining noise in all forward gears except reverse.
me: I see it has the optional hard top. what condition is the soft top?
him: it's a Texas car. the top has dry rot around the rear window. the rear window is scratched and cloudy.
i am now standing in front of the car looking at the driver front corner, which has a grapefruit size indentation.
me: what kind of accidents has the car been in?
him: none that i know of.
me: so the car is in perfect condition?
him: yes. perfect.
can someone offer a definition of the word perfect? my dictionary must be wrong..

"Perfect" ie, Mechanical nightmare, can never be made right again, too ugly for other adjectives, I think everyone is a sucker.
