Jubilee - 25 years worldwide Fiat Spider Register

Post by rdv »

In 1997 we started the register with the then current and former vehicles of our club members. The number of documented vehicles grew rapidly and for the first time the register was presented on our website fiatspider.de! Currently, more than 19,000 spiders are documented, which means that the self-imposed goal "List 10% of all built spiders in the Spider Register" seems achievable:

Unfortunately, the provision of figures in the first few years was purely manual work, so that soon the desire arose to redesign the register. As part of the relaunch of our homepage in 2012, the register was also rebuilt.

It was separated into:
- Register page for displaying the vehicles with filtering to limit the results
- Register form for online data provision
- Own register chapter in the download area with cyclically uploaded statistics on region and type
- Own forum area to describe the functions and search options (FAQ)

By automating the provision on the Internet, more time could be invested in the evaluation of the database. So there are statistics by type, region and color, per type and country and combinations thereof, e.B.:

Meanwhile, the register contains more than 19,000 Spiders from currently 102 countries, a real world car! Of course, there are the most documented spiders from the USA, but in the other places there are some surprises:

Sources are not only the spider owners who report their vehicles via form, but also the Internet and especially the sales pages e.B.:
- more than 4,000 sales ads
- more than 3,300 Ebay auctions
- more than 350 Copart auctions
- more than 1,000 Instagram Spider
- more than 580 Facebook Spiders
- etc..

And then there are the friends worldwide, who actively help and thus provide further input.

Based on the current number base, further statistics are then also possible on the distribution of the chassis numbers over the individual types:

The last extension of the register concerned the following criteria, which are included or subsequently entered per vehicle (if any):
- Delivery target
- Bumper type
- Gearbox
- Engine type

Overall, the goal of documenting at least 10% of all spiders built is within reach. Soon we may even be able to prove that at least 10% of all spiders still exist and are approved!

Thanks to all supporters and Spider friends for their cooperation. Without you, this Intermediate result would not have been possible.

Bye, Ralf

PS: If your vehicle is not yet listed in the register, you are welcome to report it informally to me!
