Ciao from Belgium (1982 Spider automatic)

Hello Ladies and Gents,

Glad to join this community. I previously owned a ‘79 Spider but sold it for another project. But the virus for Spider remained under my skin so I kept looking for a non restored, original paint and low mileage car. In February I found the Spider I was looking for in Mississauga Canada. But as I experienced already before with other attempts to purchase classic cars in US or CA, the guy was afraid of being scammed and didn’t want to sell to a non- local person. Finally last month the guy published a new ad on Kijiji and this time he agreed as he understood I was really hunting on Spiders…
Actually the car is underway from Montreal to Rotterdam. It should arrive mid- December and it will be aside a 1987 Alfa Romeo Spider Qudrifoglioand some other German stuff that I purchased in Calgary and Toronto. I do hope to learn from this community but also to share info for other members. Being a car engineer with some (35 years) experience i know something about cars.

The worldwide Spider Register actually counts 322 cars for Belgium, it could be no.5 with automatic transmission! The complete list for (B) is here:

Thanks Ralf for the welcome message! The biggest risk for damage and stolen equipment is transport by road. Once inside the container, it’s save. I had some bad experiences in the past

Ciao and welcome to spider world. Your car is fantastico. I always think of the journeys these little gems have made. Yours crossed the ocean twice, born in Italy, came to Canada and now lives in Belgium. Most my family lives in Brussels. Enjoy your car.
