most have pins that pop into a plastic insert in the body; they just pop out. Some early cars had nuts on a threaded pin. If that's what you have the interior panel has to come off for access

It was suggested by someone here, and it worked for me to take a plastic shopping bag, work it behind the badge and pull pull it off that way. Doing it Mark's way would allow you to put stoppers on the studs again of course, but I used double back tape to put mine back on and it works fine. The double back tape I use is called glazers tape, it's used to set the glass in the new vinyl windows.

Thanks, I'll try the plastic bag idea first. Double sided tape if tabs break.

If you take them off with the bag the tabs are going to be inside the panel when they pop off. They're plastic, so they usually disintegrate anyway. So unless you take out the 1/4 panel trim inside, as Mark suggested, you won't be able to put new stops on anyway.
