Oil drain plug washer size
Here’s a simple question that extensive online searching hasn’t found an answer to. (Maybe I’m just searching the wrong terms?) At my next oil change, I want to replace the washer that seals the oil drain plug on my 78 1800 cc, but what size/type washer is it? I’ve searched the usual parts websites, and while I can find a new plug (which I don’t need), I can’t find a washer. Can anyone tell me what size/type washer I should use for this? Thanks in advance.

Do you know for sure that yours has a washer?
My -78 has a tapered thread plug. No shoulder, no washer. I put some pipe dope or tape on it.

You're right, of course. Now I just feel stupid. It's been almost a year since I changed the oil, and I guess I just assumed that there had to be a washer.

Been there, done it, many times.markko wrote:You're right, of course. Now I just feel stupid. It's been almost a year since I changed the oil, and I guess I just assumed that there had to be a washer.
The way I look at it, the best way to learn is to ask, and to learn from someone whos already done it.
