I think I'll just do it in my own garage with the engine in situ. I know it's not perfect, but I'm treading thin on others' patience. That way it will have been run a few times, too, and parts can bed in.

great to hear from you again. was reading previous post at start of the year.
I am about ready to start the same process.
mostly bottom half of motor: head was done 2 years (~2k miles ago)
considering pistons as you were.
how did it go at machine shop with the block: bore to larger size, etc.

will get started once I finish putting back together my uncles 1969 Jeep
(PITA when you didnt take it apart)
AND we should all feel fortunate with the ability to get parts and knowledge from our venders.
Jeep parts are more of a challenge than you might think, unless you want to modify A LOT.
