Another one bites the dust

Post by seabeelt »

Our old 71 went to the scrap yard today. Kind of sad in a way. We originally bought the car in 2012 just for the early bumpers and were going to put them on our then 78( another story for another day). Well while we were working on the 78 we decided what the heck let’s just drive this one while we work on the other one. The trouble was this car was more than a bit rusty in the unibody sills when we started driving it. New interior, new top, valve job and a dual carbs along with some cd3s and new tire and it was a blast to drive. Last year or two the rust really started expanding to every corner of the car. A pillars, fenders, floors you name it. I stripped everything worth saving except perhaps the windshield and transmission. Sold it on peddle.com for $355

The good news is we bought an new 71 last September on BAT and have a great survivor car with only 63k miles on it

Hi,
sad story but you got your personal happyend with the new BaT Spider!
I just checked the Register list for RI and just saw 18 cars (with no 71 listed).

Can we get all your car data to include the cars into the Worldwide Spider Register? So you can built a "monument" for your scrapped car.
Pictures are welcome too!

Bye, Ralf
