I have read some people claim that 1977 124 had shoulder belts. My car did not come with them. If you have installed shoulder belts in a spider, where did you attach the seat belts?
I have tried moving the retractor to several positions and it doesn't seem to work correctly anywhere I put it.
Later models had the holes in the side of the back seat and mounting brackets for the retractor. I do not have those seats or the mounting brackets. My seats do have the seat belt guide on the back.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply and I like that seatbelt clip better then the small plastic clip on the back of the seat. But I am referring to where do people bolt the seat belt retractor assembly and the metal clip with bolt that comes with most 3 point seat belts.
thanks

Re: Converting to 3 point seat belts from 2 point in 1977 124
Hi. Thanks for the reply.
My seats do not have hole/guides for the seat belts. That is my problem. I am trying to come up with a different mounting position for the retractor. On the floor behind the seat does not seem to work very well.
If I can't find a alternative, I might have to replace the seat back with a later year that has the seat belt holes.
Thanks

Mark - if you want the added safety of the 3 point but are having trouble with the retractor location, have you considered one of the racing style 4 point harnesses. These harnessed have two shoulder straps that would have a fixed mounting position behind the seat and adjustments would be made by buckles on the front. The lap portion would mount in the same locations as your current lap mounts. Just an idea.

Hi !
I used the same mounting holes as the lap.belts use.And it works just fine , even if the seat is the whole way bacwards

Ah, FMO...
Here's the issue... My retractor was mounted much farther to the right then yours is... So If I move the retractor until it is right under the seat belt clip at the top of the seat, it might work. Plus the seat belt came with a metal clip then needed to be bolted somewhere before it went to the top of the seat. If I remove that clip and move the retractor, it might work. Although, It seems like there is a lot less room when I move my seat back then shown in your car. It is possible that the previous owner moved the seat location. He had the entire floor replaced when he did the restore...
thanks

Hi!
My Rectractor fit under the seat , when I move the seat back .I took the seatbelts from a Fiat Uno approx 1990 mod .
I have also seen someone mount the retractor with a bracket, where the rear side windows goes when you put the cab down.
Regards
FMO
ps:I dont know if the previous owner has change the floors, but dont think so

Re: Converting to 3 point seat belts from 2 point in 1977 124
funny that this post came up. I sold my 82 and have been working on my 77 and noticed there are no shoulder belts. I looked around and there arent even a place for them... I guess the 77 didnt have them I hope I dont fall out of the car when I fly upside down on one of those aerobatic maneuvers!
Re: Converting to 3 point seat belts from 2 point in 1977 124
I've got the 3 point in my 78'. The price to replace was expensive so I went for a 4 point harness. I found a good pair for under $50 on ebay. They bolt up easily to existing holes... if you have stock seats you can use the belt hangers mentioned above... or run the belts through the head rest... that's what I'm doing until I get new aftermarket seats. I wouldn't mess around upgrading a 2 point to a 3 point.... I'd go for the 4 point. It just looks cooler too!

Do you still have the two point belts? Are they black? Do they have the Fiat logo on the push button?
If so I would be interested in buying them from you.
