Best fitting floor pans?

Post by KeithM »

I'm restoring my '79 Spider, the previous owner let it sit outside for years and the floor pans are completely gone. I cut out what was left and began fabricating new pans from some sheet metal I had but I'm not happy with how they are turning out and have decided to just pick up a set of ready made pans. My question is, who makes pans that fit well but don't cost a fortune? I have read some bad reviews of "Classic to Current" and "Wolf" but they are pretty cheap (about $350 for all 4) compared with some I've seen on the big parts retailers' sites (Mr Fiat has full length pans that cover front and back, look correct and well made but cost over $700 for both sides). I can rework panels where needed but am buying prefabricated panels to avoid wasting a lot of time on things like that. Let me know what you used and why you did or didn't like it!

I used Mr. Fiat for my passenger side on my '72 Spider. I was disappointed with the tooling and found fitment to be poor. I would not purchase from them in the future.

And Mr Fiat is very expensive! The left front floor pan is listed on their site for $375, says it's made on 'original tooling' in Italy...if it's a bad fit I'd probably be better off buying the cheaper ones that go for $75 from Classic 2 Current Fabrication if I have to refit them anyway.

I haven't put them in, so I don't know the fit offhand, but I bought from Wolf Steel Restorations. The prices weren't that bad, except for shipping from Canada to Texas.

When I did my 81 ten years ago, I got my floor pans on ebay. The fit wasn't bad, but that was 10 years ago.
