1971 in Oakesdale WA

Post by adavis »

Hello from the dry side of Washington state. I have owned several classic vehicles but my first Italian model is my 1971 Spider. I happened across it buried in a garage while I was on a job. I left my card and 5 years later received an email stating that if I wanted the car it was mine for $1. I drove over that day and paid him 5 times his asking price (I didn't have a dollar bill...only a $5) and hauled away the 2 owner, 63k mile gem. The owner had parked it in 1984 only because he bought a Subaru SVX. I look forward to getting her on the road this summer. Thanks for the great forum.

Welcome, and it sounds like you got your money's worth! But now I'm feeling ripped off, as I paid $175 for my '71 spider...

You still got a good deal, Youkai. Mine was essentially destined for the junk yard, and the seller just wanted it off his lawn. Little more than a parts car when I bought it.

Can someone fill me in on how to post a picture? I'm having difficulty removing the "recline" knob off my seats to replace the upholstery and would like to post a picture of the clip I'm referring to, but can't figure out how to attach a picture to my post. If there's a thread with instructions please point me in that direction. Thanks!

Upload an image to an image hosting website, I use https://imgur.com/upload because you don't need to make an account and it's easy.

Once you've uploaded the picture, you'll be able to click "Copy Link", after copying the link when you go to post you'll see an "img" button, click that and it will create a set of brackets, if you paste your link inside of those brackets it will then be an image!

Or, you can paste the link, highlight it and THEN click Img.

Oh it turns out copy link doesn't.... really work for this, in that case you can right click it and view image it'll give you a link at the top that way. Hm.

Thanks YoukaiMori for the instructions.....I got it figured out. Here are a couple pictures of my 71 the day we drug it out of the garage (yes it really is leaning that bad). I didn't get there in time to take picutres before the previous owner hosed it off unfortunately, but it shows how decent of a car it was after sitting for 35+ years.

That interior's in pretty nice condition, and I love that blue color! I was thinking about doing mine in blue if I ever repainted it, it's so nice.

Hi
and welcome! That car looks great for this long period of sitting in the dark!
Hope you get it back on the street fast to enjoy this summer!

Can we get the VIN for the worldwide Spider Register?

You must be the lucky one, because another blue 71 barnfind in Washington looks like this:

Complete list of 71 Spider in Washington is here:

Good luck to you!
