Request: High res images of 2000 FI engine bay

Post by nicktheviking »

I'm beginning to discover things slightly out of place in my engine bay. I think that the car had a very creative mechanic at one point in its history. There seem to be some custom hoses and things are zip-tied or routed strangely.

Can someone post a relatively stock 2000 FI engine bay so I can compare?

Nick, what are you calling the pre-heater valve? Where is it located? Or, in you case, where is it missing from?

I have a Cali spider, I don't know if that's why.

The pre-heater valve is the little guy that goes on top of the throttle body inlet.

They call it a 'throttle plate heater' ,should be the same on all f.i. models. Is that picture enough detail ,or do you need something more close up?

Some of the early f.i. cars had a seperate heater that wrapped around the t.b. and was secured by a spring. The later ones were built in to the plenum. As long as your car runs ok when cold, you might be better off without it, (cooler intake charge). Lenny @ Auto Italia had one listed on Ebay a while back, but his store says he's on vacation until 10-13.

it does improve cold driveability a little bit, not too much of a factor here in so cal. Hot engine perf would be better without it

Nick,

If you are still looking for a throttle plate heater, there is one on e-bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FIAT-124 ... QQtcZphoto

John, that is for the newer F.I. models that have it built in. The one Nick needs is self contained and held on with a clamp and two bolts

My bad. I didn't realize there were two versions. I have an '82 and this one fits my car.

Thanks, but I'm going to run without one. 30 Fahrenheit is about the coldest it gets in Santa Barbara, ever.
