How does the Exhaust mount?

My '76 1800 spider has the original 4-1 header, 1.75" dual resonator middle section, and the rear muffler is just a straight pipe. It actually sounds really good that way, deep and throaty with no 3,000 - 4,000 rpm buzz, pops and burbles a bit like a $5,000 sports exhaust upgrade on a Porsche and almost a turbo let off whoosh when letting off above 5,500 rpm. The problem is it's one solid piece of rust and rattles around.

I'm starting engine upgrades to make more power and have pretty much settled on the Vick 2.25" performance headers / exhaust with an added glasspac resonator in the middle to quiet it down a bit as it seems people like it that way. The AR is out of stock. My problem is I don't have any idea how the exhaust is supposed to mount. My current system has a pipe tape strap holding the straight pipe up to a cross bar where the original muffler was and a wrap around clamp that is mounted to the transmission for holders.

Can someone please help explain how the exhaust system is supposed to be mounted / hung? And what / how many proper rubber mounts are needed? Pictures would be great.

In addition to the link in the post above, I can tell you that my 2 current spiders have 3 mounting points: 1) a wrap around metal bracket around the downpipe, that attaches to the rear of the transmission, 2) another bracket with a rubber strap that is connected to the body, roughly where the exhaust pipe passes above the emergency brake cable, and 3) two rubber "hangers" (one on either side) of the final muffler, that attach to a rail on the underside of the body.

Hey Jon,

I guess you had your concerns assuaged over the exhaust sound of the Vicks by adding that resonator? Please keep us updated on how you like it- a video would be super. Exhaust for my identical setup '75 is next on my list too.
