Should I use rtv gasket stuff?
Cut a new thicker gasket out of Karropak paper?
If yes: do I use the new paper and rtv stuff? Both sides of metal surface ?

Not sure what you are asking, But I coat both sides of the gasket with a thin coat of Permatex, Or if i was using RTV I would do the same.

I guess it was a two part question as to whether to still use gasket if I’m using rtv.
I decided to do what you stated: I cut a thicker gasket and smeared thin layer of rtv on each side of gasket .
I’ll fill up with water tomorrow evening

Had my own HOT running lately.
All had been great for some time.
couple days ago started running hot, unless moving. sound familiar.
decided to check temps while Tstat opened: that was fine. Fan didn't come on until about 225/230.
though maybe the rad switch had gone bad. Don;t really know how they do that, but have an extra anyway. Today was going to recheck and switch them out: Fan turned on somewhere around 200. Drove a bit and all was perfect; go figure. lesson: have an extra switch hanging around.
