Oil Leak - Right side of engine block

1978 124 Spider - just took it out for 2020 maiden voyage (after replacing blown head gasket) - everything seemed normal (took it around the block, 1/2 a mile or so) pulled back in driveway and noticed an oil trail as i turned around...isolated where oil is leaking to a place on the block roughly where air pump used to be...no idea what the circle part of block is, but seems to be coming from it? Blue circle on pic is where i have the leak. was not there previously, brand new leak...anyone have any ideas?

Blue circle thing looks like a plug used to close off where an oil passage was drilled out in manufacturing.
Had same leak on mine. Smeared some oil resistant sealer around the edges and all was good (so far).

PaulC - thanks for the reply! any idea what the 'oil resistant sealant' was that you used? any idea if that plug is available for purchase (like the freeze plugs are)?

IIRC it was Permatex black silicone sealer.
Just be sure to get all the oil off first.

Looks like AutoRicambi has 2 different diameter plugs. Search for oil gallery plug and you should see.them.
