OEM front swaybar size on a '68 - 24mm on there now....

I believe a 24mm front bar would be a DPO thing, but wanted to double check in case anyone knows what a stock bar size would be.

I believe from searching a 20 or 21mm would have been factory? Maybe? Kind of, sort of?

20 mm is stock, and I just verified on my '71 spider that this is indeed the case. On my '69, the swaybar has been missing for decades (rust), but I'm pretty sure it would be a 20 mm on that as well.

So, it appears the DPO has stuck again. 24 mm might be OK for track conditions, but I'm thinking it's way too beefy for casual street use. Opinions may vary.

Good morning - 24mm seems awfully stout to too. Explains why the OEM replacement bushings I bought wouldn't fit too.

How much accumulated grime is on your front bar? Stock was 19mm, although the last Spiders had a 22mm bar. But in case, I agree with you and Midwest-Bayless that a 1" bar is a bit too much (and an absolute pain to install!).

My sway bar is very clean, having just been cleaned up recently. However, I went out in the garage just now and measured it again. It is 20 mm in the center section but tapers to 19mm at the ends. I'm measuring with a reasonable quality vernier caliper, so it's accurate.

Good morning - remeasured and got 22mm, so maybe debris on the first measuring point?

In any case the new bushings just would not fit so I went to the workshop and used a belt sander to the the OD correct and will install today. Fingers crossed....
